Aachen
Close to Belgium and the Netherlands is the county free town of Aachen. This city has a long history. Already 3000 BC was a small colony founded in that area. Archaelogical discoveries from Kelten, Romans and Franken show this development. In the 8th century Charlemagne put the foundation-stone for a palatine chapel and was later remodeled to a dome , the sign of Aachen. Over 600 years was Aachen coronation place for German monarchy. The old Charlemagnes palace was in the middle of the 14th century rebuilt to the townhall of Aachen
